Talk to Volker Grassmuck and tell him: Arschloch bist du nich ganz dicht? At
SIGINT09 he elaborated on the proposal, and was surprised (not amused) by by
concerns. Otoh I was flabbergasted to hear such a proposal from CCC/Greens
circles.
Is there perhaps a link to the "poor" artists, that deserve support from
people who believe in social justice? The Dutch "Socialist Party" (not to be
confused with the traditional Social Democrats, cf. Die Linke in DE) took
care of the pop musicians and became a copyright proponents.
On this list, I don't need to explain that this is nonsense. Those who
benefit are the rights owners. The record companies often pretend to foster
the interests of artists while actually they only think of their own bottom
line.
