[pp.int.general] The USA to copy French `anti-piracy' laws?

Hi everybody,

just found this on the Inq:
http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/1563158/fox-calls-us-join-france

Why am I not surprised?

"""
The chief executive of Fox Filmed Entertainment said Monday the US
should join France in cutting off the Internet connections of users
who repeatedly download copyright protected films.
[...]
Gianopulos praised the French government for bravely doing what it was
told and bringing in laws that punish filesharers in a way that does
not cost the movie industry anything.
"

Exactly as we feared, France is setting a precedent. Just a few years
ago it used to be the other way around (nasty laws in the USA first,
then in the EU), but quite interestingly Sarkozy has managed to take
the lead this time.

Cheers,
Valentin
