Well, remember many parts of Europe (thinking about the UK in
particular) have had a long experiance with terrorism as well. In the
early 90s's there was often a terrorist attack every single week, from
catholic or protestant groups, albeit mostly in northern Ireland. I used
to live by Liverpool airport, and sometimes my dad or uncle would take
me plane spotting there, if we were bored (or to see Concord when it
arrived for the Grand National, or the HUGE Anton 225 when it made it's
annual charity toy run.

It's only in the last 7-8 years that the anti-terrorism stuff's gotten
stupid. Since Bush+Blair were in office, it seems.
