Thanks to Tom for bringing this up!

I am not really sure on how I should comment on that.
I'll try to formulate it as neutral as possible.
In summary I'd say the current situation gives me headaches.

There are now 3 groups in the US which claim the caption "pirate party"
in their name.

#1 was established many years ago and is already registered.
#2 was established about a year ago, due to differences with #1.
#3 is now the "American Pirate Party".

#2 does not seem to be very active, judging by their website status.

AFAIK the first 2 tried to limited their agenda to the current common
concept of what is regarded as pirate party, the third does not even try
do so (or maybe I am missing some links here to the common concept?).
While I completely understand why they took this approach in the
political climate of the US, it might proof problematic for the pirate
movement as a whole in the long run (if they gain some success).
