This is a VERY interesting post.

One of the reasons for posting the initial message about the
"Filesharing in Space" was to start these discussions here, in this
forum. (Aswell as starting up real activities around a small personal
project me and some friends have planned for some time.)

We are not really interested in others opinion regarding if we can do
this or not. Its up to us to materialize - or not. We do this because
we like to do this, and also realize that we can make a difference to
society while doing it. It will, since its just a small scale project
so far which depends only on ourselves. Its the SCALE of the project
that might change if more people add up.

For example, the wiki that was setup for us.
The wordpress.
We have got some funding for electronics.
We have had contributions to the content of the wiki.
We have got arts.
We have alot of people that wants to help.

This is substance. This is politics. This is what pirate polics should
be all about. We need to stop trying to be politicians, and start
making our ideas reality staying true to our ideology (if there is
such a thing as a "pirate ideology")

The initial idea was to launch a baloon up with a bit torrent site. We
knew that this would cause a lot of attention - as we have seen during
the last few days. That in turn - we knew would attract attention of
"good ideas", alot better than the "bit-torrent idea" which frankly is
indeed a "media stunt". There exist already numerous of these sites,
which provides a far better service for file sharing than we possibly
can provide. We don't pretend to compete or add anything substantial
to that. We can do better stuff - inspired by them who came before us.

The idea proposed in this post - for example - about a p2p DNS service
of some kind - is far more interesting and also quite realistic. Also,
distributed networks are really interesting. On this topic I suggest
reading up a little on "roofnet".
