In addition to the rejection of ACTA next July 4th, I think we should
encourage our MPs to vote for Amendments 52 to 67 (at least) to the
regulation on the unitary patent system (as suggested by La Quadrature
<http://call.unitary-patent.eu/campaign/go/unitary-patent-vote-plenary-ams?setlang=en>)
to be voted the same day. There are already open letters that can be
used as templates to this intent
(<http://www.april.org/en/open-letter-meps-unitary-patent-democratic-innovation-policy-europe>).
I have drafted a very simple one that are awaiting your proposals at
<https://es.piratenpad.de/197>. In case you can't enter the pad, the
text, as of now, is the following.
Dear MP,
My name is XXXXXX XXXXXXX and I am a European citizen from XXXXXXXX.
As you know, come July 4th, the European Parliament will vote for a
regulation on the unitary patent system in Europe. This is, I think, a
very important piece of legislation that will have a huge impact in
Europe's future in economical development, science, technology and
education at large.
I am writing you to courteously urge you to vote for Amendments 52 to
67 of this regulation, since they are pivotal for the consistency of
the EU patent system, to ensure the implication of the European
Parliament in defining such policy, and to guarantee that software
patents will not be allowed in Europe.
Sincerely,
XXXXXX XXXXX [Name]
XXXXXXXX [Country]
