Dear all,

We are proud to announce that Pirates de Catalunya is running again for
elections!
The 25th of November there will be elections for the Catalan Parliament.
And there will be pirate ballots in all provinces.  :)

We have 2 years and 1 month of life, and it's already our 4th election!
Let's show you some context, and then we'll ask for your help ;)

2) New requirement: collecting signatures ("Avales")

In summary:
- A new law was passed last summer that forced all parties without
representation to gather the backing signatures of 0,1% of the census at
General elections. So we had 19 days to collect 5.500 valid signatures.
- This year (Autonomic Elections), by "mistake" of the Catalan Government,
all parties got wrong information about the signatures requisite. In
Galicia and Basque Country it hasn't been necessary to collect signatures
at all, and the official Catalan election's website wrongly informed (from
3rd to 10th of October) that it wasn't necessary to collect them either.
- "Suddenly", on 10th of October, they changed the content of the website
without any notification to the parties that had already registered to
participate. On day 10th we asked the Central Authority for Elections
(Junta Electoral Central) about this requisite.
- On day 12th (a bank holiday), the JEC published on the government's
official bulletin that it was mandatory to collect those signatures and
that the deadline wouldn't be moved, it would be the 22nd of October anyway.

So we had to collect the 5.500 signatures in half the time. Yay!

Thanks to the dedication and hard work of our members, *we succeeded and
gathered >9.000 signatures*, doubling our signature collection rate from
last year.  :D

Once again, we'll be running for campaign!


3) Political background

In our last campaign (20th of November of 2011) we got 21.771 votes for the
Spanish Congress (0.6%) and 32.361 for the Spanish Senate (1.29%):

We're experiencing the most harsh environment about
*secessionist/unionist* topics
ever seen in Catalonia, an issue completely outside of our key points of
interest. As we don't play neither card, we expect to loose some of our
former voters, up to a 20-30%, in favor of some identity-driven party.

However we hope to be able to compensate this with our most aggressive
campaign ever,
the extra-media attention that we've got this year with some of our
campaigns (#MegaComplaint, the PP-EU meeting, stopping mortgage evictions,
and #Parents2Parents), the biggest budget we've ever had, an improved
organization, and some upcoming breaking news and legal tricks that you'll
enjoy. ;)


4) Please help us!

Every campaign we try (and usually achieve) some Twitter #TrendingTopic at
Spanish  level. We'd love to try it harder this time. Would you please help
us achieve a WorldWide Trending Topic?

*- International movement*
As this campaign is so polarized, we need to break-through with topics
outside of this axis. *Our international movement* can play a strategic
role, as we're one of the very few international parties here.
We need you to let the Catalan citizens know that the pirates are a
fast-rising worldwide movement!

We've raised almost 5.000 € in 15 days, and we expect to be able to raise
at least 4.000€ more in the next weeks. This is twice our budget in our
last election campaign, 372 days ago.
