[pp.int.general] Fwd: [Announce] En nu BREIN weer

Dear Pirates,

The Dutch Pirate Party (PPNL) has been in a fight with BREIN, a local arm
of the RIAA and MPAA, since april this year. We received the news yesterday
that we have to enter the 2nd round of the lawsuit on 25 sept. Since the
party is still busy paying off its debts, this puts us for a difficult
position. Are we going to risk going bankrupt, in order to defend a free
internet? Or will we abandon the fight, which will cause us some negative
publicity. It's very shocking to see that a copyright lobby uses their
million-dollars lobby budget to force their hand on a much smaller entity
financial-wise. The most troubling fact is that none of the other political
parties in the country voice their concerns over this.

We zitten een week na de verkiezingen en ook BREIN is weer wakker.

Gisteren ontvingen we een zogenaamd 'anticipatie-exploot'van de stichting
uit Hoofddorp. Met zo'n exploot kan de gedaagde in een Hoger Beroep
dwingend de datum van het hoger beroep naar voren halen. Volgens onze
advocaat bij Wisemen is er weinig wat wij hieraan kunnen doen en moet het
hoger beroep dus op 25 september, aanstaande dinsdag dus, aanhangig worden
gemaakt.

We zijn nu dus op zoek naar* jouw mening en hulp:*
- Wat gaan we doen, hoger beroep doorzetten of niet?
- Als we doorzetten:
+ Zijn er snel mensen nodig voor een juridische commissie die het oude en
nieuwe bestuur hierin gaan bijstaan
+ Zijn er snel mensen nodig voor een crowdfundingdrive

- Als we *niet* doorzetten blijft de situatie zoals hij is, met de beperkte
proxy die nu online is. We zijn dan afhankelijk van het hoger beroep van de
ISPs of dat ooit nog gaat veranderen. Tenzij regering en parlement op tijd
wakker worden natuurlijk...
