studies. It is a VERY bad piece of work. All possibe discussion tricks are
exploited to the extreme, like begging the question, etc. For anyone except the
very naive (or perhaps people only browsing the management summary) this should
be obvious.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#0000ff size=2>Perhaps the most important
observation to me made is that the study limits itself to music - while, of
course, there are lots of other forms of copyrighted information. The study
concludes that the consumer electronics industry is booming, while the music
industry is languishing, and it apparently tries to get back some of its
share.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#0000ff size=2>IPRED2, data retention
directive, and now this levy harmonisation & enforcement endeavour
apparently all come from the same source: a desparate attempt from the
record industry to maintain a position in a society where it has become
virtually superfluous due do Internet. It is a dreadful example of "rent
seeking" (defined as efforts to influence the legislator to make legislation
increasing private rents).</FONT></DIV>
