question of copyrights, the social movements of "free culture" in
Brazil are demanding a well defined separation between commercial and
no-commercial uses of contents (in the moment we discuss a reform
of the law). It's no a solution for all disputes,
but it could open a enormous public sphere of knowledge/information as
well
as decriminalize many uses of contents.<br>

Other example is the time
of expiration of copyrights. Why not reduce the time as minimum
possible? The Berna Convention stipulates 50 years as a minimum. It
is too much for us, but a reduction to the minimum of Berna could
have a relevant political impact - against all tendencies since
decades. It is a point of a purpose of reform here. Other is to abolish
DRM and TPM because they
violated consumer rights. </p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">In other hand, many
people in Brazil advocates for a "local agenda". That means
we should opt to public policies that promote our development and
innovation inclusive
when it is means to ignore the terms of Berna Convention and the
TRIPS. It could be made mainly through the judiciary, invoking the
right of to culture or the public interest
of access. That position is not a scandal, there are a lot of people -
conservatives politicians and judges too - who defends it openly,
specially about patents.

In conclusion, I think the Pirate Parties have to work with
intelligence and strategy in order to get intermediary objectives and
small
victories, <b>but</b> <b>parallelly</b> <b>we must defend our ideals
</b><b>through
a deep reform of the laws in order to promote extensively the sharing,
collaboration, etc. <br>

<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><b>Other example:</b><b>
P2P cannot be legalized in the actual context. The most of projects
or new laws</b> <b>about security, cybercrime and pedophilia has the
hidden objective to abolish P2P.</b> What we can do?? There are
many money in the game - and money is (almost) all in our sad
society... If you believe in this
$y$tem, you cannot be considerate a pirate : ) The actual rules are
not
made for us.</p>

Remember, folks: we are aspiring to be legislators here. We are going to
be writing the letter and spirit of the law. With our own keyboards,
signing it with our own ink. There is NO decision we cannot make. Not
one single human being is going to be able to tell us what we can or
cannot write into law. If the coalition we're a part of tries that, they
will lose our support which is necessary to keep the prime ministry
(different pp.*:s will have different leverage mechanisms to obtain this
position of power over the appropriate parts of the national
legislation), so that's not going to happen. If somebody outside of the
coalition does that, they can be completely and safely ignored.
That is my mindset, and that has to be the mindset. The only thing
limiting us is our ability to execute on that mindset, and the trap of
stumbling onto the adversary's discursive ballpark. Own the word. Own
the message. Own the discussion and discourse. We are definitely riding
a global undercurrent. This takes time, but we can do this.
