It's obviously a plot by Boeing to stop the A380 from becoming successful. The new security makes it infeasible to board such a large plane.
Charly
We arent getting into conspiracy discussions now are we? Well ok since
we are. The "underwear bomber"'s dad called security groups over a
week beforehand saying that his son had been radicalised by a group
associated with AQ. Despite this he was not placed on the no fly list
even though farting on a plane seems to be enough of an excuse for
them to add someones name to the list.

In 2008, the ACLU estimated the US ‘No Fly List‘ to have grown to over
1,000,000 names — heck, even Cat Stevens and the late Senator Ted
Kennedy were on it — and it continues to expand. But, suspected
terrorist Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab, who was curiously able to obtain
military-grade high explosives –80 grams of PETN (Gee, where’d he get
that?) — managed to escape airport security and detonate his underwear
bomb!

In April 2009, American authorities reportedly refused an Air France
flight from Paris to Mexico entry into US airspace because a left-wing
journalist writing a book on the CIA was on board. Hernando Calvo
Ospina, who works for Le Monde Diplomatique and has written on
revolutionary movements in Cuba and Colombia, figured on the US
authorities’ ‘no-fly list.’ Air France said the April 18 flight was
forced to divert to the French Caribbean island of Martinique before
continuing its journey
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/5217186/US-authorites-divert-Air-France-flight-carrying-no-fly-journalist-to-Mexico.html

Seems a bit strange that writing negative books on the CIA gets planes
diverted but warnings of potential bombings and everyone throws a
party.

Now if that isnt strange enough there are even eye witness reports
such as this one:
http://www.mlive.com/news/detroit/index.ssf/2009/12/flight_253_passenger_says_at_l.html

Also quite strange that a cameraman was filming the entire flight and
had the presence of mind not only to step in and subdue a "mad
bomber" but also check him for further explosives.

Not only that but how can we be sure it was actually AQ behind this
"attack": http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2007/08/researchers-ana/

Do I win the conspiracy discussion?

The main problems behind the scanners btw are simple. The pedophilia
angle is a very strong reason not to use them or at least have people
under the legal age exempt from using them. Also the fact that they
use x-rays which can be potentially harmful to people especially with
repeated exposure and especially in young people or worse still
pregnant women.
