Hello,<br><br>I thought about it some time ago and again last week (that time for ACTA). <br><br>I think it can be a good idea to start thinking more seriously about this. Viviane Reding (Vice-President of commission + commissioner for justice) said earlier this month, that she intends to review the data retention directive. Intentions are good but we could certainly do a lot more pressure with this tool. Also the time is good for some anti-data retention propaganda now with the publicity from the german supreme court.<br>
<br>The problem is that 1 million is a lot! It's not impossible but we would need a lot of advertisement etc. The other issue is that the Commission is only foced to consider the initiative, not to act (which is quite understandable though).<br>
<br>I am willing to look further into this! as you probably know the treaty of Lisbon went into effect about 4 months ago. Article 11 now gives citizens a new tool to influence EU policy:<br>
