What is Minecraft?<br><br>Minecraft is a game created by Markus Persson, a Swedish pirate. He holds a positive stance on piracy, one not shared by many proprietary software developers. <br>Minecraft is a simple sandbox world, constructed out of cubes, enabling the player to build anything they like within a short period of time and without an extensive learning curve.<br><br><br>Why is Minecraft useful for the pirate parties?<br>
<br>Minecraft can make a clear statement: Anyone can be a creator and copy copyrighted or patented objects with hardly any issues. One of the benefits of Minecraft is that you still create the objects yourself. This creates a gray area, where it is not always clear if it is intellectual property infringement or not.<br>
<br>Minecraft can be a place for pirates from different countries to come together. This does not only include pirates in the pirate parties, but also like-minded people. People can talk with each other, work together on things and build friendships. This can improve the atmosphere within the group and is teambuilding in more than just the literal sense of the word.<br>
<br><br>Minecraft success stories !<br><br>Some Minecraft servers have a lot of huge buildings, often built by groups of players. These structures range from a 1:1 scale soccer stadium and the Battlestar Galactica to Rapture and so on. If we pirates can complete such structures and label these as built by us, people visiting our game will be astonished. This will also give a clear message: the pirate parties can achieve great things when working together. You might ask: "Well, this is only a game. What difference will this make?" The answer would be: "It can make a significant difference, because these online cooperation projects can translate into offline cooperation."<br>
<br>The server might also generate some publicity. A lot of Minecraft projects have resulted in astonishing results, such as the 16-bit ALU Minecraft builder getting a job at a major microchip producer. Also, Minecraft generates a lot of publicity in itself, because it's understandable for most of the people. This publicity might not always be good, but many people will be amazed by what we've built, if we do it well.<br>
