I agree with Richard and was about to write something similar when I first saw the speech comment. You may agree or disagree with what he has to say but discuss it related to the text at least. Starting to attack people for how they formulate themselves and straying away from the topic does not help the conversation. Defending someone else is bad as well and doesn't lead anywhere (Boris, Maxime) If you want a conversation about that then take it personally with the other person... The same goes with one word replies approving a message not leading the conversation forward.

Another positive side is that even the director general of WIPO admits a need for change, normal people should be even easier to convince of this.

As one would expect from WIPO, he used the term "intellectual
property" and thus made a statement so broad it hardly even relates to
real criticism.

It's my belief that Pirates should respond to this challenge - that we
should open constructive dialog with this DG. Even if he considers
some of our views extreme, it also sounds like he'd be willing to
listen to and discuss our views and potential solutions.

It is worth a try, but it is important to take care
not to try to reduce what we ask for to something he might accept.
We don't want him to influence us more than we influence him.
Hi Richard,
you're extremely predictable, you know that? A Pawlow dog couldn't be as
trained as you are in finding every instance of "intellectual property"
and ranting about it, completely neglecting the other content.
