<html><body style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space; "><div><br></div><div>Ahoy, </div><div><br></div><div>the news of the success of the Pirate Party of Hesse </div><div>(who is one of observing members of PPI, since the </div><div>last Conference) has already been reported on the </div><div>Pirate Parties International general mailinglist, </div><div>but some numbers has changed slightly as the </div><div>official result where anounced, so I give you a short </div><div>update and some background facts. </div><div><br></div><div>all in all during the local elections on the</div><div>March 27th, the PP-DE-HE have contested with </div><div>31 Lists on different levels of local councils </div><div>- 7 cities, 10 districts, 3 towns and 11 "neighborhoods" </div><div><br></div><div>The results are between 1.1% and 6.25%, getting</div><div>1.2% on overall average in the whole Hesse </div><div>(including the districts where no lists had been</div><div>submitted)</div><div><br></div><div><b>This results in 31 elected parliament seats,</b> </div><div><br></div><div>between 1 and 2 per council. In at least 5</div><div>councils that mean that the Pirates will get</div><div>their own parliamentary fraction status. </div><div>(including in my own home city of Offenbach)</div><div><br></div><div>Some background facts: due to the election </div><div>system used for local elections in Hesse, the</div><div>contesting lists need to be at least 1/3 of all </div><div>possible parliament seats in length, in order</div><div>of not to waste any votes. (16 of 31 pirate </div><div>lists where indeed to short, so potentially </div><div>the overall result would be higher, if we </div><div>had met this criterion)</div><div><br></div><div>There had been <b>490 pirate candidates</b> on all</div><div>lists combined.
