A letter of public demand for Pirate Party International I am a Hideto Suzawa, a leading member of Pirate Party Japan. I have an objection about the decision of a ordinary member application at the PPI general meeting in Kazan on April. And I want to require reexamination on the Japanese present conditions. Last October, our party was official registered as a political group. (there is the 2 typed registration classification so called "a political group" and "the political party" in Japan. It is very hard to become a "political party" because it needs 5 Diet member, or it needs at least 2% votes at a last national election.) Because pirate is a strong negative word in Japan, it is very difficult to recruit a member. However, 16 members existed at the time of the start of the general meeting in Kazan, and our party became approximately 20 members now. As our party's policy, our party advocated a participation to the PPI. And, actually, we applied as a ordinary member to Gregory Engels by e-mail on 13 January. I resigned for a personal reason on 5 March. After that, Syota Saka became a new leading member(I came back again on 1th July). As for the application of the ordinary member, there is a opposite opinion because of our prematurity in our party. Here, we must explain Mr Tom. Tom is a false name, and, we don't know his past career, his real name, his age , his address. After I established Pirate Party Japan, he joined our party on December last year. According to his say, he was a substantial leader of 3 communities which studied Pirate Parties over the world. These communities is acting on mixi(japanese styled SNS). He told me, these community's member is approximate 100 person, but I think it is an exaggeration. Because they can easily enroll in each community. for example, I enroll in three groups, so 3 person in 100 people are my accounts. I estimated true member's count is approximate 50 person. and true active member is approximate 10 person. It means that Tom's group's size is almost equals to our party's size. Our Party's rule requires a real name and a real address when someone applied as our party's member. But, only as for him, I accepted the omission of data, because he was a keyman of his communities.I expected him to add his member to our party. When we submit our applicant data to PPI, Tom and his friend objected strongly. So the Mr Saka sent only insufficient data to PPI after all. I thought that we will be in time enough to become a ordinary member next year, because there was no competitor elsewhere this year. Please see below. Given these facts, PPI Board abstain from issuing a recommendation regarding admittance of PP Japan as PPI Member. ■6.14 Pirate Party of Korea PPI Board have not received any documentation that would demonstrate a democratic inner order of PP Korea and, unless such documentation is presented before the General Assembly, abstain from issuing a recommendation regarding admittance of PP Korea as PPI Member. ---------------------------------------------------- By these sentences, we understand that only our party submitted a applicant data in Japan. and we understand that the situation of Korean Pirate Party is almost as well as our party. Actually, before the general meeting in Kazan, the applicant list showed our party's name, and Saka's name as board member's name, and my name as coordinator's name. On the other hand, before the Kazan meeting, Tom created new Pirate Party secretly, and participated the general meeting, and he applied his applicant data for ordinary member. After all, Tom's party has become a ordinary member. And very strangely, Korean Party which situation is as well as our party, also has become a ordinary member too. But our party's application was completely ignored. I was very astonished, so I asked Gregory Engels by e-mail about this happening. but no reply. I sent a e-mail for protest to him again. but no reply again. More astonished thing is that my e-mail's reply was sent to not me but Tom. I feel no openness, no accountability, no observance of the rule in this process. I supposed that Gregory Engels had personal considerations, and treated Tom with undue favor. (Mr. Engel always knows Mr. Tom well) However, I think that the openness, transparency, and accountability are Pirate Party's main Motto. But the top of the PPI did the decision that depend on personal considerations in this way. It is an extremely abnormal situation. I think the top of the PPI must explain this problems. Next, I explain the correspondence between our party and the PPI after the general meeting. And I explain the present conditions in Japan. Please access PPI's official web-site. But in spite of our attention, the PPI is linking the appearing page included the sentences that slander our party. When the web page of a party which an international group links on agreement says slander remark against another party, everyone will believe that the party is an imitation.
