1. Discussions and studies about swpats often lead to disappointing results
because there is such a variety in "software patents". I guess that EPO
believes that your "rare exceptions" really are the rule. Which is
presumably not entirely true either.
2. Pirates imho should leave the swpat debate to specialised NGOs like FSF
and FFII, and address the problems of he patent system in general
(acknowledging that eventually many swpat problems pertain to patents in
other files as well). Incidentally, pharma, food and climate related patents
are much more of a problem to society than software patents.
