That is a defeatist exaggeration -- and a self-fulfilling prophesy.

Changing EU directives and the WTO is not feasible in the short term.
But in the long term, the only obstacle is convincing enough people to
want it.  A big obstacle in doing so will be the self-fulfilling
prophesy that this is impossible, i.e., "out of touch with reality".

If you want to focus on short-term partial solutions, that's useful,
as long as you do not oppose the long-term work on a fuller solution.
