because the Dutch supreme court decided that perfumes are copyright 
protected! Which was really strange, because the French court de cassation 
decided earlier that perfumes (or actually the smell of them ...) are not 
copyrightable.
Copyright statutes usually have an open-ended list of subject-matter, 
allowing smells to be added, but the system of copyright shows that it is 
not meant for this type of "works". If you walk onm the street with a 
perfume, is it a "citation"?

For the men on this list, your girl friend may not appreciate of you give 
her a  "Female Treasure" perfume instead of "Trésor". But if you buy a 
perfume for yourself, you may choose the more "cost effective" option.
