[pp.int.general] The conference - what went wrong; how can we do better?

I'm not going to argue about who lost how much money and whether it was
a "farce" or not, but in my perception the possibility of participating
via remote delegates wasn't made clear prior to the conference to a
satisfying extent. There were a lot of postings by you and others about
difficulties to get to the conference, but somehow I can't remember
anybody stepping forward and saying, hey, in that case you can just
participate remotely, with full voting rights. Surely, the remote
participation wasn't managed in an optimal way, but still it was there,
so why hasn't anybody from the organization team brought that
possibility to attention?
