Thanks Richard and happy holidays,
This article took me quite a bit of time to write. It shows how I personally would hit back at a mega corp proud of the 100's of millions of dollars they spend in impoverished nations, especially in Africa with its advertised, indestructible, non biodegradable product. There has been talk of a boycott, it is just not my style.
Hoax? I suppose it is a deliberately fabricated, but I don't think I said anything false nor did I try to hide the truth other then to not go on and on about the court case which could have been stated differently by your humble author.
Did you smile, did you read, did you think that if my story got legs that it might do something to bring attention?
Did you like my interpretations of LEGO's pirate line? Queen Annes' Revenge in blood red? Cannibals referring to cannibalism? All seemed valid to me as I was looking for ways to poke at a revered, private, family run corp.
I know, I know, LEGO is sacred ground. I didn't say it was a recall and I didn't focus on the words ordered by the court, ordering PPCZ to 'take down' all references to LEGO on the worldwideweb. I invented a word, takeback, to lead to confusion. I gave my home address implying that one could send any physical pirate stuff if consumers want to keep these products and their 'bad' references from their children and from the landfill. Tongue and cheek, sure, and hopefully, if the story get's any legs at all, I will get a call from LEGO. "You can't stage a re-call! We demand you take that story down from any computer in the world that might have received it! Or we'll sue!"
I put my email so people from around the world can send me their images of pirate LEGO stuff that might be construed as being Pirate P referenced. Yes it's an attack on LEGO's attack. If it is not published, it just shows the Times has no sense of humour, and it doesn't matter to me. I won't feel bad.
And, this morning I woke to a zillion Need Signature messages attacking fellow pirates to which I say, give me a break. This sort of story will do nothing except to label the International Pirate movement as a bunch of ....................
Yes, the court case is a joke, completely impossible to enforce, and should be treated/attacked as such with the same vigor as they brought it on. My first attempt at submitting a story stands. Perhaps it could be read by the editorial staff as coming from a real pirate, one who doesn't back down or give quarter to anyone.
My life was threatened this week on a City of Seattle community bulletin board, my name in the subject line, wording was clear "We must kill the messenger, not just wound him" and City moderator, ListServe moderator, and all agreed with the post. After contacting a laundry list beginning with FBI, past District Attorney, Police Capt, Mayor/Head of Security at SeaTac (all friends or people I know) the list ended up with a visit to the station as eventually recommended. I waited over an hour to try to file my complaint. I left and told Office Gardenhire that I would deal with the situation personally. I don't take an escalation of personal attacks lightly. I will defend your write to disagree, then I draw the line.
And I know Boston very well. My Mayflower ancestors are buried in Duxbury which l loved. Wellfleet is still my fav. Visit Indian Neck if you get out that way, my fellow pirata/
I remain sincerely yours,
John Dickinson

Is this LEGO announcement for real? It looks like a hoax to me.
