[pp.int.general] Artificial meat

Hello,

Sorry to interrupt. Just two things.

You can eat the maggots in the casu marzu if you want but for me the point
is the taste and texture it gives to the cheese, and many people familiar
with this cheese removes the worms before eating (they can jump to you
which it's not so nice), so maybe it's not the best example to show that
people are willing to eat them. :)

On the other hand, however dubiously popular eating insects is for the
masses, right now it's a luxury exotic meal for gastronomic adventurers in
most of the west and in some places they have been banned due to the lack
of proper hygienic regulations (unfortunately they were never considered as
a source of food by lawmakers). I believe that if we think this can be a
cheap and sustainable protein source the first point we should address is
urging governments to develop proper regulations so they can be sold
normally.

If released, it may be an unpopular food at first but, if you have the
offer in the market and it's 10 times cheaper than standard meat, many
people will start trying it, and if they like it they'll spread the word.
At the end, if you have to make ends meet and/or you're hungry enough
you'll eat whatever. :P

Cheers,

      Muriel
