No, copyright is an english invention to a) get a book monopoly and with
it money for the printers and b) easy censorship method for the crown
via the book printers.
Hasn't changed much since then ;)
I didn't know the Bern Traty included the provision for post services to
not make a service that could be used to send illegal copies of books or
for banks to not store illegal copies of books in their vaults.
