I think there is not a "real problem" to be solved.

I think the reason why electronic voting will become common somewhen
is entirely human laziness.
Just as it was when Switzerland introduced snail-mail voting:
Previously you had to fill the voting paper out and go to the voting
booth during a specific period in person.
With snail-mail voting you just fill out yout the vote, put it into
the letter and deploy it at the next postbox.
With electronic voting you just sit in front of your computer, fill it
out there and send it online.

On the other side there could be a potential benefit for electronic
voting indeed: Usually the vote counting is done by a small group of
people. It's cumbersome if you aim to assert the result yourself.
With electronic voting as e.g. as proposed in ADDER everyone gets the
possibility to do the counting and to check if hir vote is among all
the other votes or not.
