Being an atheist does not automatically make you the arch-enemy of each and any believer in whatever.

That is not the way any intelligent being should choose to walk.

    Full ACK, Pirates and Religion do not
      add up at all. The swiss Pirates are dedicated to a laicistic
      world view and specifically  we have position which demands the
      complete seperation of church and state (no church taxes, ban on
      not needed circumcision). However my own position is a little more
      extreme than that, which brought as quite some media attention :)
      - we are brights - and we should show that!

      

      You are not alone :) I am pretty sure most pirates are at least
      agnostic, in our case we have quite some outspoken atheists with
      strong opinions!

      Better way to handle any religious date/event/"value" is to just
      ignore it. FFS,
      we live in 21st century and our lives are irreversibly dependent
      on "heretic" knowledge such is electric current, quantum physics,
      Internet, satellites...

      

      Using religion (and religious values) to achieve any political
      goal is dangerous, irresponsible and, as we all know, can be very
      destructive. Imagine the shame when future generations look back
      and see what some "pirates" did in order to compensate their weak
      mental capacity and frustrations.

      

      Not good.
