Hello,
Well, in Pirates de Catalunya we organised an ad video festival to select
our campaign video ( http://fap.pirata.cat/ ) and there was a mixed jury
composed by Amelia, two members of pirate party boards, a movie critic, two
movie directors, and a famous copyright lawyer (
http://fap.pirata.cat/jurado/ ). As far as I know, none of the last four
members of the jury had anything to do with any pirate party.
I don't see why this would be different. You can be involved in a selection
process without being part of that orgnisation. This is just a technical
decision on what design and corporate image better conveys the goals of the
organisation, it does not mean that you endorse the European Pirates or
agree with it.
The difference in this case is that, instead of a mixed jury, we have a two
stage process: the technical commission and then the assemblies. This way
all pirates can participate choosing the logo, and not just three. :)
Personally, the main problem I see is finding people who would be willing
to do this for free. I can see someone who might find interesting to add in
his/her CV that they were asked to participate in the selection comittee
bla bla bla... I have done things for free sometimes to add them to my CV.
Or maybe someone would do it as a favour, just because we know them and ask
them to do it. For the ad video festival in Pirates de Catalunya, this was
arranged by Juan, the organiser, who used his personal contacts within his
profession and asked them to help us. That's why I assume in this case it
will be people we know as well. :)
However, I don't think the fact that the logo is for a party should be a
problem for professionals not affiliated to the party to help us choose it.
:)
Greetings,
Muriel
