Hi, here is an article (in spanish) about the "Ice bucket challenge" and 
the "Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis".

The author said that all the money will go to pharmaceutical 
laboratories and then the product of that will have patents.

Perhaps if donations forced laboratories to produce without medical 
patents?
