I agree, that a copy is no lost sale.
But I also think, that an artist should receive some money if someone copies his work without explicit permission - unless the artist allows free re-usage.This position comes mainly from respect. I respect the artists work, and if an artist does not want me, to share his work with my friends, I just look for another artist who does so.
