I agree we must take a stand.

But I also see the need to incorporate the public into the politcal
process in order the secure the needed change. It must be
self-prescribed in order to be accepted, lest we want the most
shameless liars taking over our democracies.

We have some experience with a more direct style of policy-making that
could be of great use to stop Koch Ind. and its ilk from preventing
effective policy.

That kind of leaves us with a unique responsibility to save this thing.
