[pp.int.general] Pirate Academy / Workshops

Making a library with resources already available is another activity, 
and one that is also very worthwhile. One that is being done for their 
own purposes by half the pirates anyway. I had considered starting 
there, connecting these personal libraries, but the thing is that we 
need a focal point for starters. Something that happens in the now, and 
I think a workshop/class and a set date is essential for that. If 
someone is willing to pick this librarian effort up, we can very well 
put the efforts alongside one another. Some kids you might very well 
drop off at the library and they will learn far more than at school, but 
they can do so already, even if we can and probably should make it a 
little easier with a shared library. For everyone else we need something 
of a community with joined activities to sustain the learning efforts.

I had considered using the online classrooms already available, and to 
be honest I'm still not sure if we should. The main reason here being 
that we lack control of the materials made, and if the hosting company 
decides to pull the plug for quite imaginable reasons, we're jolly 
screwed. Call me paranoid. Though I am willing to be persuaded here if 
you're willing to make a list of benefits so we can evaluate in earnest. 
Lazily using something already made sounds as appealing to me as it does 
to the next bloke. At any rate, we'll use these sites as blueprint.

Lastly, I'm not sure if we should side track this discussion into terms 
of diploma's and online grading and online colleges, as these are quite 
redundant for our purposes. We either teach one another engage in 
politics effectively and succeed, or we do not, and fail. The voters 
will grade us, and this is not a scholarly effort but an educational 
one.
